Meet Dow, the friendly face and lockdown knitter from our new Wellington store. Dow shows us around her Welly neighbourhood.

Which hej hej store do you work at?

95 Victoria Street, Te Aro, Wellington

What's your go to hej hej look from “Sink or Swim”

I’m in love with the Waves dress, from the lobster embroidery to the pink and orange colour combo - this is going to be my fun and flirty go to for the warmer season. This dress is super versatile, I like to dress it down with a white t-shirt or the undercover lover knit in ivory for extra warmth with my docs or sneakers for a cute day time look. For a more formal party season look I’ll just wear it on its own with a cute pair of heels and a slick jacket.

Where do you go for coffee?

Swimsuit - the new swimsuit spot behind our shop on the corner of Lombard & Bond St is my go to spot for the best coffee and people.

What about a bite to eat?

Our neighbours at Chaat St are fire, they serve Indian street food in a tapas style. This is the perfect spot to go with a group of pals so you can try as many dishes as possible - my fave are the Aloo Tikki Chaat and the Chole Bhature.

If you need something stronger?

Crumpet has been my ultimate favourite Welly spot for over a decade, it's dimly lit, small and has a romantic vintage vibe to it that makes it isa perfect date spot. The staff are knowledgeable and will create the best custom cocktail for any flavour combo you’re craving. Also, their crumpets are an amazing late night treat to accompany any drink - my fave is the classic lemon curd crumpet.

Any favourite local stores?

Vessel: A beautiful shop a few doors down from Hej Hej -  They have an amazing range of pottery from NZ ceramic artists and curated homeware from around the globe.

Pegasus Books: A rabbit warren style bookshop, one of their many rooms piled to the ceiling with books is the perfect place to get lost in on a wet and windy welly day..
